Established in 2012
As the only University of Southampton (UoS) campus located outside of the UK, University of Southampton Malaysia (USM) has come a long way since its inception in 2012 with a mission to be a leading University for research, teaching, and innovation across Asia and the wider global community.

Our programmes are taught by staff who are engaged in world-class research and cutting-edge professional practice and our students are at the heart of our ground-breaking work.

The University of Southampton World University Rankings University of Southampton is one of the top public universities in Southampton, United Kingdom. It is ranked #11 in the Times Higher Education Rankings and #81 in QS World University Rankings 2024.

Why UoSM

Our World Class Campus
The multi-storey campus is built to accomodate up to 2,000 students and features state-of-the-art laboratories as well as teaching and learning facilities. It offers exceptional student lifestyle with various recreational activities around campus, which include:

  • Cinemas and a wide range of entertainment facilities in a number of shopping malls within close proximity to Eco Botanic City.
  • Retreat into nature or a beach getaway at the natural attractions in Johor such as the famous Mersing Islands and the Endau-Rompin National Park.
  • Opportunities to travel to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or other parts of Malaysia for short weekend trips, with convenient transport systems.
  • Access to exceptional physical recreation and sports facilities, including football pitch, athletic track and Olympic-size swimming pool at a nearby sports complex.

UoSM’s campus is located in Iskandar Malaysia, the first economic region established in Malaysia to take advantage of its prosperous location and ecosystem. The nine promoted sectors are Electrical & Electronics, Petrochemical and Oleochemical, Food & Agro-Processing, Logistics, Tourism, Creative Industries, Healthcare Services, Education Services, and Financial and Business Services. The region has a target of 3 million population and RM383 billion in cumulative investment by 2025.
